Understanding Commercial Insulation in Iowa
When it comes to constructing or upgrading a commercial building in Iowa, insulation isn’t usually the first thing people think about. Most business owners focus on the design, the roofing, or the mechanical systems.
But here’s the truth: commercial insulation is what quietly determines how efficiently your building runs, how much you spend on energy, and how long your structure lasts.
Whether you’re managing a large warehouse, an office complex, or a retail facility, commercial building insulation plays a critical role in keeping everything running smoothly — even when Iowa’s weather isn’t exactly playing nice. From the bitter cold of January to the humid heat of August, your building deserves insulation that can stand up to it all.
We’ve seen it firsthand: commercial properties in Des Moines and across Iowa with poor insulation often face rising utility costs, fluctuating indoor temperatures, and higher maintenance expenses. That’s why we specialize in high-quality commercial insulation solutions that protect your investment from day one.

Why Commercial Insulation Matters in Iowa
Insulating your commercial building prevents drafts, manages moisture, and lightening your HVAC system’s load. This low-cost improvement leads to better comfort, energy efficiency, and cost savings in the long run.

Tackling Iowa’s Extreme Climate
Iowa does not do “mild.” Our winters are severe, our summers steamy and the temperature variations can be extreme. Commercial insulation in Iowa acts as a steady buffer against those extremes, maintaining a stable indoor climate while protecting HVAC systems from overworking themselves.

Boosting Energy Efficiency
Every degree of wasted heating or cooling can add up — and in a huge commercial space, it adds up fast. Properly insulating walls, ceilings and attics with more advanced materials like commercial spray foam can greatly reduce the amount of energy lost. It’s not just about comfort; it’s about operating a smarter, more cost-effective operation.

Preventing Moisture
Moisture control isn’t only a problem at home. For commercial properties, uncontrolled condensation can lead to corrosion, the development of mold, or damage to important materials. For industrial use, spray foam insulation provides great protection against these expensive issues — and that means your building will be strong and steady for years to come.

Enhancing Indoor Air Quality
Properly installed insulation also helps to enhance the indoor air quality. Insulation helps seal gaps and cracks — to block pollutants, allergens and moisture that can degrade air quality. Not only does this preserve building materials, but is also works to alleviate a healthier and more comfortable atmosphere for both employees as well as customers.

Precision Insulation & Coatings
Our Process for Commercial Insulation in Des Moines & Across Iowa
Your journey to a well-insulated, energy-efficient Commercial Insulation in Iowa starts with us. Here’s how we make it simple and effective from start to finish:
What Happens When Commercial Buildings Aren’t Properly Insulated?
HVAC systems work overtime trying to stabilize interior temperatures, leading to higher utility bills.
Without insulation and vapor barriers, damp air leads to musty odors and unhealthy air quality.
Employees and customers feel it — literally. Hot spots, cold zones, and fluctuating air quality are all signs your insulation is underperforming.
Over time, uninsulated or poorly insulated walls can compromise the building’s integrity.
Factors That Influence Commercial Insulation in Iowa
No two commercial buildings are alike and insulation isn’t something you can apply with a one-size-fits-all mindset. To plan a commercial insulation project in Iowa, here’s what we take into account:

1. Building Type & Usage
A distribution warehouse, a restaurant and an office tower don’t function the same way and their insulation needs shouldn’t either. We customize every solution to the unique function of your building , so you’re not paying for what you don’t require.
2. Construction Age & Condition
Many older commercial buildings in Iowa have outdated, or inadequate, insulation . We first check your current insulation before advising any changes, Our aim is maximize your investment and pay off more quickly.
3. Climate Exposure & Location
A building in Des Moines might face wind exposure and temperature shifts differently than a facility in a rural industrial area. We study these environmental details carefully before installation to ensure lasting results.
Why Commercial Insulation Is the Smartest Investment
- Boosts Comfort and Productivity: A home work space that is well insulated isn’t just energy efficient — it’s comfortable. Employees get more done when they’re not freezing one week and sweating the next. People stay longer in places that are appealing. It’s comfort that enables productivity and satisfaction, without making a lot of noise.
- Reduces Operating Costs Year After Year: Energy expenses are one of the largest, never ending costs for any commercial property. Making that investment isn’t just a one-time payoff, it’s an investment in going forward and saving on energy bills every month, helps extend the life of your HVAC system and cuts into your bottom line every year.
- Builds a More Sustainable Future: Saving energy isn’t just good for your wallet — it’s good for the planet. Upgrading your building insulation can lead to less energy use and fewer greenhouse gas emissions. Many Iowa businesses are taking this step, not to comply, but because it is the right thing for their community and future.

My husband and I moved into a new construction home on November 1st. We were not part of the building process; it was a quick move. We realized shortly after moving in that the garage was not insulated. I made some contacts with various insulation companies and Scott Todd was the only one that got back with me and assured me he could get the job done in a couple weeks. Scott stuck to his promise and did a great job. What stands out in my mind the most was how polite, honest and hard working Scott is. I’d definitely recommend his service for your insulation needs.Posted on Google Andrew OswaldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Scott was great to work with! The came and insulated my shop's attic space and it's done a great job retaining heat!Posted on Google Max MorrisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I discovered Precision while scrolling through FB. I’m very happy that I did. Scott arrived at my home within hours- not days, to discuss our insulation project. He provided me with some thoughtful education and advice prior to my decision. In the end, they did a great job and I would gladly use Precision again and highly recommend.Posted on Google Tanner LynchTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very knowledgeable and seems really passionate about what he does.Posted on Google Mike HughesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We wanted our garage to maintain a decent temperature during the winters and realized our ceiling was not insulated and heat was escaping as it was onlydrywall screwed into the rafters. Scott, the owner over and gave us several options as how to make it hold the heat in the garage along withadding some more structural stability to the rafters. Here are the options he gave us 1. R49 blown fiberglass 2. Spay foam 2" closed cell foam 3.. Both 1 & 2 blown fiberglass over the cell foam What I really liked about these options is how he said Why don't we start with one and go with the closed cell foam first. Let's see how that works and if you're satisfied we won't need to do anything else. If it's still not holding the heat you want then could come back and put some blown-in fiberglass on top. So far the heater that's set in the garage is set at 50° and it runs 5 minutes every hour where it used to run 5 minutes every 15 minutes in an hour. Note: before we had the insulation installed We also installed green hinges on our garage doors that make our doors air tight because they're spring-loaded. I would highly recommend Scott and Precision insulation and heating if you're looking for an honest, responsive owner who won't oversell you and is reasonably priced and extremely professional. Here are a few pictures of before and after.Posted on Google Cory RiglerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Scott and his crew did an amazing job insulating our attic and the area above our garage using spray foam and blown-in fiberglass. We had plumbing above the garage that would slow down on extremely cold days, along with a few cold spots in the ceiling caused by gaps from poor original installation by the home builder. Since the work was done, those issues are completely resolved. The difference is noticeable, and we honestly wish we had done this sooner. I would highly recommend Scott and his company to anyone looking for high-quality insulation work.Posted on Google Kenneth KingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had Precision Insulation out to inspect my attic and evaluate temperature issues in my home. Their technician was extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and honest. He used thermal imaging to show exactly where heat loss was occurring and explained everything in a clear, straightforward way that actually made sense. What I appreciated most is that he didn’t try to upsell anything or push unnecessary work. His recommendations were practical and realistic for my situation, and the findings aligned perfectly with what I was experiencing in my home. It’s rare to find a contractor who takes the time to educate you, answers every question, and is genuinely focused on what’s best for the homeowner. Highly recommend Precision for insulation evaluations and honest expertise. I felt confident and informed after the inspection, which is exactly what you want when dealing with home performance issues.Posted on Google Brian SchwartzTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
